Iskon Temple in Delhi India

Highlighting the core philosophy based on the traditional study of Hindu scriptures, like Shrimad Bhagwat Gita, the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) was founded by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in New York City in the year 1966. Today, the ISKON is propagating the blessings of Lord Krishna to every heart and soul, irrespective of their caste, creed and sect.

Built on in the serene environs of the Hare Krishna Hill in East of Kailash, the splendid temple, disseminates Krishna consciousness through myriad sankirtan movements, religious chanting of the holy name of Lord Krishna as mantioned in the teachings of Lord Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. ISKCON Temple is a cluster of temples, dedicated to Lord Krishna and has a large number of Hare-Rama Hare-Krishna cult followers.

Out from the noisy and bustling streets of the capital, this place gives way to the serene, solace and secure place filled with spirituality. Sitting amongst Lord Krishna and his devotees with Hare Krishna Hare Rama chants going around, is undeniably an experience of a lifetime.

Besides the marvelous architecture presented on the walls of the shrine, the interesting legends of mythology and its blend with the scientific relevance will definitely allure you. Visit the ISKCON museum, buried on the two floors of the temple building. With an approach to present Indian history in an interactive manner, the temple authority has taken this initiative to organize a light and sight show embellished with figures of Hindu mythology. The ground floor is decorated with beautiful motifs that bring back the despondent preaching of Bhagwat Gita, back to life. With your way to the higher levels, the backdrop presents stories from the epic of Ramayana and Mahabharata. The wall of the peaceful temple is adorned with carvings of the divine marble figure of Krishna, playing the sacred flute, along with Radha.

The temple remains open in the morning from 4.30am to 12.00pm and then in the evening from 4.00pm to 9.00pm. The best day to visit the temple is on Sundays, when special religious ceremonies are carried out, which will overwhelm you to be a part of the kirtan, aarti, pravachan and prasadam that continue till evening.
