Delhi Climate and Weather

New Delhi, the capital and the busiest metropolis of India is known for its change in temperatures. While summer experience the hot and humid climate, the winters make people weak because of its chill. Delhi has a continental climate with high variation between summer and winter temperatures. Summers are long, extremely hot, from early April to mid-October, with the monsoon season playing hide-n-seek in between. The months of February to May see a time of hot with highly oxidizing conditions. By the end of June, humidity increases, bringing some respite in fluctuating rains in the months of July to September. Winter emerges in late October and peaks in December and January with heavy fog.

The climate of Delhi is a monsoon-influenced humid subtropical climate with high variation between summer and winter temperatures and precipitation. The average temperature remains at 35 degree Celsius while in summers the temperature assumes the zenith by touching 45-48 degree Celsius. The average temperatures of 29 degree Celsius during rainy season, keeps the weather pleasant. And the post-monsoon season continues till late October.

With commence of December, cool winds start enveloping the capital and by January the winter chills reached to its peak, with average temperatures around 12-13oC. Delhi's immediate propinquity to the Himalayas results in cold waves that result in the dip in temperatures. In addition to it, the heavy fog during the winter season poses a great threat for the travellers and drivers.
